How to install windows drivers using driver disk

A software driver or device driver is a computer program that allows higher-level computer programs to interact with hardware. In other word, a driver is that which allows hardware to be used on a computer. So this definition leads us to article on how to install windows drivers using driver disk.
Explaining further, before making use of video, sound and other device on your computer, the driver for the respected device must have been installed. Thus, when you purchase webcam device for your computer, you must install the driver if you really mean what you bought it for.

Firstly, I’ll be making use of disk popularly called driver board.
To start with, let me assume you’ve formatted and installed windows newly on your PC (some drivers might have been lost in the process of formatting e.g. sound, visual), so to call them back:

Note that: this tutorial was carried out on windows xp

==> insert the CD to its corresponding drive(CD drive)
==> go to My Computer, click System Properties,

A dialog box appears,
==> click Hardware > Device Manager

Note: if on Windows 7, a normal window appears instead of the dialog box, so click on Device Manager at the left hand side.

A window appears

If you notice your computer fails to sound, then double-click on sound > double click on any of the drop down.
A dialog box also appears, click Update driver to search for the sound driver automatically in the CD, you can also follow the wizard.

On the other hand, making use of disk for special driver can also be done in the above process or:

  • Go to Control Panel > Add hardware
  • Select the name of the hardware.

NB Ensure the hardware is attached to the computer

A wizard(dialog box) appears and detectS the driver in the disk.
